2003 Robyn's Block Estate Chardonnay
Tony Aspler - tonyaspler.com
Robyn's Block Chardonnay 2003 (which is so good I buy two bottles even though the price is a hefty $48 each) – deep straw colour; spicy, ripe pineapple nose with a minerally note; full-bodied, sweet fruit, fleshy but great balance.
2003 Beamsville Bench Reserve Chardonnay
Evan Saviolidis -WineSavvy.com
Tawse Chardonnay Beamsville Bench Reserve 2003, Niagara - 89 This is a more open knit, in your face style compared to the Robyn’s Block. Peach, honey, oil, spice and hazelnut dance around the nostrils while in the mouth citrus and caramel appear. There is just a slight touch of acetic acid which adds complexity. Now to 2011
2004 Robyn’s Block Estate Chardonnay

Tawse 2004 Chardonnay Robyn’s Block - 89 Niagara Peninsula, Ontario
From old estate vines on the Twenty Mile Bench this is an evolving full bore chardonnay with straw yellow colour and a big, complex nose of ripe apple, buttered toast, tobacco and an interesting spicy, mossy character. It’s full bodied, rich with some fruit and oak sweetness and a touch of alcohol heat on the finish. Excellent to outstanding flavour persistence. Best now to 2009.

Merlot is turning out to be a star in Niagara's challenging 2006 vintage, thanks to impressive examples like this that boast tremendous depth of flavour and a wonderfully plush texture. Concentrated dark fruit flavours carry through to a long, creamy finish. This is a truly lovely wine to drink now or within three to five years.
2006 Meritage

This is the sleeper from the new crop of Tawse releases. Its shy nose reveals some violet and lead pencil aromas that will no doubt develop into something stronger and more profound with time in bottle. On the palate, this is sweetly fruited with some lovely sleek tannins, good structure and length. This needs time before it will reveal its true potential. Definitely one to watch!
Tawse Winery 'Quarry Road' Chardonnay 2006
VQA Vinemount Ridge

This is the first single-vineyard bottling from this site although the vines are 10 - 15 years old. It's vanilla, leesy, toasty, oaky on the nose- barrel fermented, indigenous yeast, 20% new French oak. This is extremely well paced and deftly balanced with everything in synch. Look for spicy notes, delectable tropical fruit and ripe citrus nuances delivered on a medium-bodied bed of silky-smooth texture. The luxurious finishes lingers with the fruit flavours and racy tang in perfect harmony. (VH)

VQA Twenty Mile Bench

Lifted aromas of floral, mineral and vanilla notes segue the rich and incredibly expressive flavours of ripe citrus, white peach, ripe sweet peach and green apple that wash over the palate in a deftly balanced fully textured stream. It's medium to full bodied and delivers a lingering finish that layers on hints of spice and white grapefruit. It's a mouth-watering experience that deserves fine cuisine and a special occasion, turkey with sage dressing and all the fixings would be appropriate. 2007 Laundry Vineyard Cabernet Franc
Winemaker's Comments
Rich and ripe aromas of damsom plum, pipe tobacco, allspice and black raspberry envelope your nose with this voluptuous Cabernet Franc from the spectacular 2007 vintage. On the palate warm cassis and pink peppercorn meet fine tannins and round acidity as this mellow wine leads to a long and plush finish.
2007 Tawse Cabernet Sauvignon Icewine, Niagara
Evan Saviolidis - 93
This is the best Cabernet Sauvignon Icewine I have ever tasted- period! It is superbly concentrated with loads of guava jam layered upon currants and cocoa. With a 40 second finish and 250 grams of sugar, this super sweet stickie coats the entire palate, but just before it becomes too heavy, the acid kicks in, giving it lift. NY style cheesecake is the way to go.

Spice, mixed field berry and earthy notes roll off the nose of this well-structured Rosé. A cornucopia of flavour washes over the palate with rhubarb compote, strawberry and raspberry among them. It’s refreshing throughout with a generous texture and a well-balanced fruity finish. Great value, it earned its final half star because of it—pick up a few for summer quaffing. (VH)
